I uploaded the image to ChatGPT and got this... From this ChatGPT, best estimate is: Length: about 35–38 inches Weight: about 11–15 lb My single-number guess would be ~36 inches and ~13 lb. How I'm estimating it I’m using several things visible in the photo: His hands and forearms as scale. The fish spans roughly 4–5 adult/teen forearm-hand widths. Body proportions of a bluefish. This one is not only long; it has a fairly deep body through the shoulders and belly, which suggests a heavier fish than a skinny 36-inch fish. Head-to-tail proportions. Bluefish have pretty predictable proportions, so the size of the head relative to the entire body helps. Known bluefish length/weight ranges. A bluefish in the mid-30-inch range is commonly somewhere around the low-to-mid teens in pounds, depending considerably on how fat the fish is. There is one big source of error: the fish is held forward toward the camera, while the boy's body is farther away. That perspective makes the fish appear larger relative to him. So I wouldn't try to call it 40+ inches from this picture. Looking closely at this particular fish, I'd put my money on 36–37 inches and roughly 13–14 pounds. (Greg 07/24/2026 08:40am)
